President Obama hasn't announced his expected decision to offer Taiwan a new arms package that does not include the new F-16 fighter planes they've requested, but the Taiwanese animators over a Next Media Animation have already made their video!
They even produced an English version. Take a look:
And here's NMA's take on a U.S. official undermining the candidacy of Taiwanese presidential candidate Tsai Ing-wen:
+++++
it's reported that under the new the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) between Taiwan and China, Taiwan's export to China increased by 13.3 percent and its imports from China rose 45 percent in the first half of the year. Wow!
++++++
Hahaha. ECFA was supposed to increase Taiwanese sales in China. What actually happened is mostly negative for Taiwan -- its market share in China has fallen, cheap, toxic Chinese goods are hurting our firms, and investment in Taiwan has also fallen. Taiwan actually performed much better in China prior to ECFA.
Of course Don, you might also have noted that those are Chinese figures. The real stats are probably different.
The purpose of ECFA is to enable Chinese annexation of Taiwan. That is why in non-government polls it has generally never attained majority support. The negative effects of ECFA are also a factor in President Ma's low approval figures and in the resurgence of the pro-Taiwan, pro-democracy opposition.
