Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ) has lifted his hold on the nomination of Rep. Ellen Tauscher (D-CA) to become under secretary of state for arms control and international security, a Congressional source tells The Cable. Kyl's office couldn't immediately be reached.
Several nominations, including that of Tauscher, and of Kurt Campbell to be assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs, are expected to come up for a unanimous consent motion later today, which means they would automatically be confirmed if no one objects. The nomination of Harold Koh to be the State Department legal advisor is expected to come up for a roll call vote.
The Senate is expected to break tonight or tomorrow for July 4th recess.
UPDATE: There will be a roll call vote at approximately 4:10pm on the confirmation of the nomination of Harold Koh to be legal advisor of the State Department, a Hill aide says.
