Herro Mustafa has moved from Foggy Bottom to the White House, becoming the senior advisor on the Middle East to Vice President Biden, on loan from the Foreign Service. Mustafa has recently worked on Afghan and Iran issues at State. An Iraqi Kurdish born American who spent two years of her childhood in a refugee camp, Mustafa's family story has been the subject of a documentary.
Elizabeth King, the long-time defense staffer for Senator Jack Reed (D-RI), has been tapped as the new assistant secretary of defense for legislative affairs.
